The evening will examine the role and importance of Community living and being in our contemporary society. Through the example of Tamera peace research centre in Portugal, one of the longest running and pioneering communities in the world, Kate will highlight the basic principles and ingredients of developing community both on a practical and global perspective.
Kate Bunney
Kate Bunney began working in charitable and social organizations in 1989. Her career has included service provider and training coordinator on Domestic Violence issues, consultant for local authorities in services for adults with learning difficulties and policy and organizational consultant to NGO's. Originally from the UK, Kate moved to Tamera peace research center in Portugal in 2000. For twelve years, she co-managed the Global Outreach office including maintaining a global network of pioneer projects around the world, community and organizational consultancy, Fundraising, and conference organizer. She had a special emphasis on producing educational programs and events in conflict areas, including Pilgrimages in Israel/Palestine, Colombia and Europe.
Kate now focuses on working with various organizations and communities around the world, developing and bringing together diverse methods of community living, and organising events that highlight some of our most pressing global issues.

Tamera in Southern Portugal is an international training and experimental site for the development of peace research villages worldwide. Under the motto "Think Locally, Act Globally," approximately 200 people live, work and study in Tamera. Tamera’s aim is to develop an example of a model for a nonviolent co-existence of people and between people and nature. Research areas include solar and other alternative technologies, water, community, global network, spiritual practice, and education.
